Current and predictive rainfall is important for real-time operation of reservoirs. Estimation of continuous or event-based rainfall distribution over watersheds and regions supports modeling of hydrologic components including streamflow and recharge. Managing precious water resources with detailed knowledge of where and how much runoff is expected makes operations more efficient leading to conservation of a precious resource.
